Legacy Museum: From Enslavement to Mass Incarceration

We went to the Legacy Museum in Montgomery, Alabama. It was about the history of Black people in the United States. It started with the ocean when they got taken from Africa on big ships. The people who wanted slaves were really rough and mean. The children got separated and only some got to see their families again.

I didn’t know what lynching was. There were computers where you could click on the state and county to see how many people died that way. It was really sad.

The museum also told about the bus boycott and Rosa Parks. I watched a video about Martin Luther King who helped. There was a bomb in his house.


I think the museum is important so people know this stuff so we can make a change. I think everyone should be treated equally. It’s just the colour of skin, they are still people.
