Baha'i House of Worship and My New Friend

I met a German girl yesterday. It was hard to understand what she wanted to do because she spoke German. She was younger than me. She was 5 and I'm 7 but it was still really fun to play with her because the age doesn't matter. We played on her trampoline and a swing set. It had a normal swing and a round swing that can fit more people.

She had a food set and I made some food for her mom. The mom had made some salt dough bread rolls and a pretzel in the German style.

The grandma (called the "oma") helped make breakfast for us. She cut pineapples in a really cool way. She cut them in a shape and the pieces of pineapple were zig zagged. She said German people liked making decorative food. There was also things like boiled eggs, cheese, and smashed avocado. I saw my new friend's brother eating the avocado in his bread roll so I tried it. I've eaten avocado before but not in bread. It was really good. There were lots of types of bread. Each of them had a name. It was hard to remember the names because there were so many types. There were also lots of types of jam (one was mango and one was strawberry) and it was thicker than our jam in Australia.

They had two guinea pigs. The first one was named Lily and the second one was Flekki. They had a big space to run around in and a little ramp. They were kept in a room called the Winter Garden. It was really warm. They also had a doll house in it and some cushions that I sat on.

We went to the Baha'i House of Worship. It was about a 10 minute walk from their house. Most of the homes looked modern but in a different style than our houses in Australia. They had lots of pretty gardens with flowers, and some had decorated for Easter by hanging eggs on the trees. Everyone in the neighbourhood knew the House of Worship was there because there were street signs saying "Baha'i."

When we got there, there were some boxes with toys for kids to play with like soccer balls and tennis things. They also had food like tea and cookies. The House of Worship had a dome and when you went inside and looked up, there was a symbol meaning "God is the Greatest" in gold and blue. People were singing prayers but I didn't understand them because they were in a different language.

I got a necklace there in the bookshop. It has the ringstone symbol on it. The top line is for God, the middle line is the Messenger from God, and the last line is for the people in the world. The two stars are for the Bab and Baha'u'llah.

We had to take a train there and when we left, we took the train back. It wasn't very long, like 20 minutes from our hotel in Frankfurt. I was really happy to meet my new friend. Next time I see her, I hope I'll know how to speak German! Above is a picture of the German sounds which the boy showed us.
