Horrible Histories river boat

I grew up watching Horrible Histories and so did some of my friends, so when I saw the Horrible Histories Terrible Thames poster in the train station I definitely wanted to go.

Terrible Thames is a boat tour around the Thames which lasts for 45 minutes and is done in a Horrible Histories style... so lots of singing, blood, and toilet humour.

The Tower Bridge looked very cool. It looked more like an actual castle than the actual castle (the Tower of London). The Tower Bridge is the only bridge in London that can go up like a draw bridge.

We found out there were only a few people beheaded in the Tower of London, most notably Anne Boleyn.

We also saw Cleopatra's Needle which wasn't even Cleopatra's. It was built by Thutmose III almost 1500 years before good ol' Cleo. Cleopatra's Needle is only the popular name.

They even told us about the Great Plague of London, where people fled the city and locked themselves in boats on the Thames to escape the plague. Ironically, the rats which carried the fleas which had the plague loved the water so almost all the people on the boats died.

One of my favourite facts is about London Bridge, especially New London Bridge. The New London Bridge (1831-1967) was built after Old London Bridge fell. It was sold to an American for 2,460,000 USD when the government decided the bridge needed replacing.

The Thames was very windy and cold, and at one point they couldn't turn around the boat because it was blowing off course. I thought the tour was really fun and it was a shame it was so cold, but I learned a lot.
