Munich Walking Tour
We went on a tour in Munich. We started looking at the big clock called the Glockenspiel. At 11am there were little figures who did a little dance and if you looked really closely, there was a green guy who was hitting the bell with a hammer. He was a moving statue.
There was a column near the big clock. It had Mary on top which was golden, with Jesus in her hands. Below it, there were four little angel babies. They were very adorable and lovable but they were fighting. One of them was fighting a serpent. It was kind of funny because if you watched Harry Potter, one of them was fighting a basilisk. Another one was fighting a griffin and another one was fighting a lion.
I learned that in a certain dress, if you had a bow in the front then that means you are still a young child. If you had it on the right, you were single. If you had it on the left, everyone knew that you had a husband. If you had it in the back, then people knew that your husband had died. The dress was a traditional Bavarian dress.
We also learned that when the Nazis were in power then if you stepped in this square, then you had to do the symbol “Heil Hitler” that meant he was in charge. For the people who didn’t want to do that, there was a little back route so they could avoid doing the symbol.

We learned that beer was very popular in Munich.
After the tour, we went to eat lunch. We got a white sausage which isn’t that usual where we live, which you eat with pretzel and mustard.
We also ate a traditional dessert which was like a pancake with raisins and apple sauce.
We also got apple strudel with vanilla sauce. When we were looking down from where we were eating, there was a band playing. The first one had a big triangle guitar which had to be held on a stand because it had to be really big and heavy. They were playing classical music. The other guy was playing a glockenspiel and the lady was playing the violin.
The second band were two brothers called the “Brass Twins”. They were playing different songs, sometimes with a piano tape behind their own music. It was really good music.
If you went a little to the left of them, there was a person who was playing an accordion but we didn’t see his face because there was a little stand with a hat and he was underneath! I wasn’t sure how it worked so it was pretty cool. We gave both of them some money.
That’s what we did in Munich. Bye!
