Salzberg Salt Mine
We went to a salt mine in the Darrnberg mountains outside of Salzburg. Salzburg means "salt" town. The Celtic people worked and lived in the mines.
We got to know all the old style ways of living in a Celtic village because there was a pretend village made outside the mine.
There were little houses with photos of the families that lived in there. Most of the houses had a little activity inside. There was a leather activity where you had to make a mark in the leather. The next one was a wood carving house where they carved wood and then sold the spinning wheels for chariots and wheelbarrows.
I made this video to show around the village.

Then we went on a tour inside the salt mine. We had to get special clothes because the salt mine was a tunnel and you never know when dirt or salt could just drop down and make you dirty. The tour guide told us all about how the salt developed in the earth and what salt is used for. I did not know that salt was used in so many things!
We had to go on a train to go inside the mountain. I was a bit scared on the train because there was no side rails so I thought I was going to fall off. But I was in between Mommy and Daddy so I did not fall off.

During the tour we got to go on a really big underground slide. Then we got to go on another ginormous slide which was double the length of the first slide! We even got a free drink! A very very salty drink.
Then we went on a boat ride. The boat ride had lots of lights. There was little card board things carved into different shapes. We got to see shadows of people dancing in the windows. It made me feel excited and happy.

Remember, do not be like my brother Zorion. He puts too much salt on his food. You need save some salt to use for actual important stuff like washing powder, preserving food and for shots and medicines.
