Trains!

During our trip, the public transport we have used the most has been trains.  Back in Oz we almost never go on trains, big or small, but here in Europe we have been using the metros multiple times a day. I am even writing this on a train from London to Brussels!

The worst trains were in Paris, or at least for the small ones. It was usually crowded, and the seats were stained.

The best trains so far were in London. I think if I hear “Mind the gap” again I’ll go crazy though. In Paris we used train tickets, but in London they have Oyster Cards that you have to tap like a credit card. The seats were put sideways so you have more leg room. (Shown below.)

The German trains were somewhere in the middle. We mostly took longer train rides in Frankfurt since most of our activities were in walking distance, so we’re not sure what German metros are like since we only rode them a few times.

One time in Paris, in a train a busker with an accordion performed for us. He was a good performer and let us take a video.

For the international trains like the one we’re on right now they have all been comfortable. They have free wifi, but it cuts out when we go underground, and it’s worse than McDonald’s wifi even when it’s working. We bought a can of coke at the train cafe and it costed 8 dollars. Yup, that’s right, 8. 9x14-118.

Thanks for reading! And until next time, if you want to buy a coke on a Eurostar train, just don’t.
