Castel Sant'Angelo

Yesterday we went to the Castel Sant'Angelo.

We got pizza and gelato before we went to the castle. We got a ham and cheese pizza.

My brother got mint and cookies and cream gelato. I got mango and coconut. There was also a mandarin flavour and I tried that one but I didn't get it because it wasn't my favourite.

When we got to the castle, we got to skip the line because we had bought online tickets. We had to finish our ice cream before we could go in. I couldn't finish mine so mom had to have some. When we got in, there were these big columns with ginormous heads on top of them.

You might have read my last post about my treasure hunt book. Even though I had already got 100 points and I had my prizes, we still used the book to check off things. We had to find piles of cannonballs, cannons, and a catapult which are in this picture.

We also had to find the view of the Pantheon and Saint Peter's Basilica. You can see the Basilica behind me in this photo.

We had to find a model of the castle. There were actually different models there from different time periods. You had to look very closely. In front of this entrance there is a car with a person. In front of another model there was a chariot with a donkey and a person. That's how I knew they were from different time periods.

We also had to find the angel Michael. The story was that he stopped the plague.

We had to find the crest of Pope Alexander VI.

There was a lot of artwork on the ceilings, like all the other different castles we've seen.

In front of the angel Michael statue, there were a few other statues, two of them with masks. My mom thinks the scene was a puppet show. When we were in Venice, we learned about all these different masks. I recommend watching a video on them because it's very interesting how different masks are for women, for children, and for old men and stuff like that.

If you went a little bit to the right, there was another statue. When you go up the stairs, there was a little ball thing with bees like there are on the columns in Haifa (my dad told me that). I've been noticing the bees in lots of places.

It was a very wonderful view at the top of the castle. I really enjoyed it. Bye!
