Food in Marbella and Malaga

When we were in Marbella at Julie’s house, Louisa cooked us lots of nice traditional foods. Surprisingly not just Spanish food but everything from Persian to Moroccan. We also ate out at some Málagan restaurants. Here are some of our favourite picks.

Here is a Moroccan Pastilla. It is made of mostly egg and chicken, but it has other vegetables and spices too.

Arroz con Leche is a type of rice pudding. It was my favourite food we had in Marbella. It is just like our normal rice pudding but it is not baked and it has no raisins.

These are some Croquettes. They were made of potatoes and cheese.

Crepe con Dulce de Leche is another treat. It is basically a caramel crepe, and it was super sweet.

This is some guacamole. Not that traditional in Spain but it was still super tasty.

Although fruit salad isn’t anything new, we thought it was interesting that Louisa decorated it with flowers sometimes and even cut the blueberries in half (not in the photo above but on other occasions).

More churros? Yes. The answer is yes. (Supposedly the OG churro shape was round, so these are different from the others we had.)

Homemade Pates in an egg carton? Why not, I guess. A Pat-ey (No, not “Pate”) is a dip thingy for bread. We couldn’t figure out what most of the dips were, but there was carrot and apple jam, some tomato salsa, a paste of what we thought could be sausage, and more.

Empenadas are basically a Pastilla, like I talked about before. This shop had different fillings though, other than the chicken n’ egg classic. The one I’m holding has beef, onion, bacon, and cheese.

My mom really wanted tapas, and here they are. There is a cold tomato, ham and egg soup, a prawn burrito and some bread.

Spanish food was really diverse. My favourite was the Arroz con Leche. Louisa was really kind to cook almost all of our meals, and she helped make our stay I Marbella a lot more chill compared to other countries.

Thanks for reading! And until next time, rice is nice, especially with spice, but if you eat too much you roll the dice and prepare to pay the price.
