Volcano Vesuvius
Mount Vesuvius is the volcano that destroyed Pompeii when it erupted in 79 AD. It would have been really sad if you died because of the poisonous gas from the volcano, being buried alive and burnt to death by lava :(.
The bus took us most of the way up the mountain, but we still walked a little bit. The bus was really nice because it had leather seats and a table tray in front of you. There was no crumbs on the ground or anything!! There was also USB power points so you could charge your phone if you wanted to. I wish I had a phone :(.
Mom got us all a frozen bottle of water that was completely ice. On the bus I opened the bottle of half frozen water and it sprayed out in the bus. There was water all over my pants and my hands. Note to self: don’t open new water bottle in bus lol ;).
The volcano was 1280 meters tall and a 2 kilometer walk. It took 40 minutes to walk up but only 10 minutes to walk down. It did not seem like a 40 minute walk up because I was talking to Zorion about Minecraft.
I got angry because when we got to the top of the volcano we had to walk around the crater. But I did not see the point. If there is a circle and you walk all the way around the it, then it looks the same on all of the different angles. So I think of it as just more walking. I was very tired of walking, and while we were walking I could have been sitting in the nice bus relaxing.
We walked all the way around the outer ring of the crater. It was pretty cold. When we got as far as we could walk, we went to a café and got hot chocolate. Yay :). They actually had a café at the top of the volcano!
After that we walked back down the mountain. There was lots of little lizards on the side of the path under gravel and rocks.
My favourite part of that day was getting the hot chocolate on the top of the volcano. But the hot chocolate cup size was really small, unlike the sandwiches that we had today in the Napoli Train station. More on that later. Bye!
